Diana M. Ulrich Obituary
Diana M. Ulrich passed away peacefully at her home on Oct. 30, 2012. Ms. Ulrich was born in Carrizozo on April 19, 1948. Her family moved to Alamogordo when she was 4 years old and she considered this home ever since. Ms. Ulrich graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1966 and joined the Marine Corps immediately after.
She proudly served her country from 1966 to 1968. She considered this one of her life's greatest achievements. Ms. Urlich was extremely proud to be a former Marine. Diana raised her four children in Alamogordo under her strict military guidance. She was a disciplinarian, not only to her children, but to any of their friends who she thought was stepping out of line. Although she was a force to be reckoned with, she managed to be loving, sympathetic and didn't judge anyone. Ms. Urlich didn't only raise her children; she was a mother to many, many more. To Diana, family was of the utmost importance, this couldn't be stressed enough. Her family values will continue on through her children and grandchildren.
Ms. Urlich was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Consuelo Ulrich; sister Connie Chelpaty and son Wyman E. Simkins.
She is survived by her brothers Edgar Ulrich, of Ruidoso, Steve Ulrich and wife, Susan, of Chandler, Ariz.; daughters Shelbe Abbott, Carey Marquez and husband Pioque; son Ziggy Kruszewski and partner Jessica Preciado and beloved family member Marlin Leyva, all of Alamogordo. Diana was also the proud grandparent of 11 and great-grandmother of two, all of whom called her Mema.
Diana's infectious laugh and brilliant smile will live on in the hearts and memories of all who were privileged to have known her. She will be greatly missed.
A special thank you to Dr. Stefan Korec and his staff at the Alamogordo Cancer Center for they are truly angles on earth. Our family will be eternally grateful for the kindness and comfort they gave to her over the last three years. Diana is now at peace and with those who she loved and lost in a place we will call paradise.
Rosary will be recited for Diana at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 705 Delaware Ave., Alamogordo.
Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 6 p.m. with Father Juan Montoya, Celebrant. The family will greet friends after the service at the Elks Lodge.
The Ulrich family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
