1946 - 2007 Obituary Condolences
Dianne Christine Lofton, 61, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, in Alamogordo.
Mrs. Lofton was born Feb. 20, 1946, in New Brunswick, N.J., to Joseph and Ethel (Benitz) Stanik. After graduation from high school, where she was in the National Honor Society, she attended Catherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City for two years. She then worked for Johnson & Johnson in their corporate office in New Brunswick as the executive secretary for the international vice-president. After marrying Boyd Lofton in 1972 they lived in Contoocook, N.H. for 26 years. There she was a Girl Scout leader for 12 years; the vice-president and secretary for Dollars for Scholars; and a board member for the community center.
To her family in Virginia and New Mexico she was known as Grandma; to her family in Maine she was known as Oma; and to all was well-known for her innovative and yummy cooking, quilting and crafting. For several years she and her husband have been full-time travelers and spent a few months a year with each of their children.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Boyd Lofton, of the family home; a son, Eric Joseph Verite, and his wife Lindsay, of Camden, Maine; two daughters, Eileen Rispoli, and her husband Craig, of Lovettsville, Va., and Jill Jennifer Elizabeth Lofton, of Alamogordo; nine grandchildren; her mother, Ethel Stanik, of East Brunswick, N.J.; a brother Joseph Stanik, of Englishtown, N.J.; and a sister, Christine Marshall, of Ocean Springs, Miss.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
Memorial services and inurnment will be in New Hampshire.
