D'Niese Mills

Obituary Condolences

D'Niese Mills, 45, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, in El Paso. She was born Aug. 7, 1964, in Grants to Raymond F. and Anita (Salazar) Decker.
D'Niese is survived by her husband, Phillip Mills, of Mayhill; her parents, Ray and Anita Decker, of Albuquerque; a brother, James R. Decker, of Salem, Ore.; and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.
D'Niese had a tremendous heart and spirit and felt that every day in her beloved Cloudcroft community was a blessing. She was widely known as a 4-foot 11 1/2-inch firecracker who deeply loved her family, friends and her country. Her love of her life and the people around her were often described as a great light over her community.
She worked tirelessly to better her community and loved to entertain and cook for crowds of people at her home. She was a great student of British and American history and built and decorated a Victorian home near Cloudcroft.
D'Niese's greatest passion was training her dogs and competing with them in agility trials. This weekend's NADAC agility trial in Las Cruces will be dedicated to D'Niese's memory.
D'Niese's K-9 Scholarship has been established in D'Niese's name at Western Bank in Alamogordo and Cloudcroft. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the fund, which will be used to benefit the Las Cruces NADAC agility club and other dog related causes.
Funeral services will be held at D'Niese's home near Cloudcroft on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at 1 p.m. with Chuck Moon officiating. Immediately following the service will be a party to celebrate D'Niese's life and the profound impact that she has had on those who knew and loved her. The address is 34 Aspen in Cloud Country Estates between Cloudcroft and Mayhill. Maps are available at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
The Mills family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
