Donald W Smith Obituary
Don was the fifth born of ten children to Thomas and Dora (Betts) Smith in Blair, Nebraska.

He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Lou (Felton) Smith. Their 64th wedding anniversary would have been February 7, 2017. He is also survived by his children, Donna Carmen of Georgia, Tim (Judy) Smith of Illinois, Mike (Yolanda) Smith of Illinois and Debbie (the late Baldo) Barajas of New Mexico.

He was loved and will be missed by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as his brothers, Tom (Pat) Smith of Illinois, and Jerry (Dee) Smith of Missouri, and sister Helen Behling of Florida.

He is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Baldomero Barajas; granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Castillo; grandson, T.J. Barajas; his afore mentioned parents; four brothers, Henry, Bob, Jack and Johnny; his sisters, Bessie and Dorothy.

Don was an active member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, having served as a past Governor.

Grandpa Don enjoyed spending his time putting together puzzles and framing them for gifts to family and friends.

He was a talented farmer and carpenter.

He recently took great pride and was honored to design and build the urn for his late grandson, T.J. Barajas.

He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and flew his W flag faithfully. He always wore "bibbers" and a cubs hat. Watching the Cubs win the 2016 World Series was one of the best days of his life. Now he is another angel in the outfield.

Please join the family for a pot luck and to share your memories of Don. It will be held at 1704 8th Street, Alamogordo, Saturday, February 4th from 1 to 4 pm.

The Smith family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
