Donald Walker Obituary
Donald Kinley Walker, 69, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at Providence Alaska Medical Center from heart failure.
Born Sept. 16, 1940, in Tularosa, he moved to Alaska in 1977 with Nancy Walker and sons. He worked on the North Slope for many years as a welder for various oil companies and in his later years worked in car sales.
Donnie was an avid hunter, cowboy and fisherman and spent many summers on the Deshka River. Donnie was the kind of guy who could fix or build anything and enjoyed helping others out. He took his time in all he did to make sure it was done right and to the best of his abilities. He was a kind and funny person, fast with a joke or to lend a sympathetic ear.
Donald K. Walker is survived by his sons Shannon Walker, Cory Walker and Tracy Walker; his older brother Ronald Walker, of Tularosa; seven granddaughters, Athena, Kindra, Ashley, Cortnee, Elizabeth, Chandra, Kayla and Julia; two great-grandsons, Kyle and Cole; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth "Bella."
He was preceded in death by his father, Adron Walker; mother, Ula Walker; his wife of 35 years, Nancy Alene Dollorhide; and younger brother Jim Walker.
Donnie had numerous friends but one best friend, Mel, who was his fishing and hunting buddy for many years. Donnie is loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Donnie's wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread in Alaska at an undisclosed site where his younger brother's ashes were also spread.
