Dora Mae Venable, 80
Dora Mae Venable went home to the Lord on Monday, May 24, 2010, at the age of 80. She was born Oct. 17, 1929, in Wewoka, Okla. Dora Mae was a very caring and loving person who had many special friends. She was a longtime resident of Alamogordo and Olney, Ill.
Dora Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Venable Sr. Dora Mae was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers: Melfa Noble, Fredona Knight, Ann Lodin, Betty Middleton, Peggy Worthal, Sam G. Amerman and Tommy R. Amerman.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Venable and Kent Worthall, and three daughters, Sheila Conner, Judy Branstetter and Tina Venable. Survivors also include Dora Mae's three sisters, Mary Jo (Jack) Provines, Jane Bryan and Bobbie Kay (Ron) Nowak, and brother Gary W. (Cookie) Amerman. Dora Mae has six grandchildren, Bobby and Kevin Conner, Christy and Joseph Branstetter, and Heather and Brian Venable; and three great-grandchildren, Cody, Quinn and Cash.
Services for Dora Mae will be private.
The family thanks the wonderful staff at the Aristocrat Assisted Living Center in Alamogordo, where Dora Mae lived the last three years, for all the care and support they provided to her.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
