Obituary Condolences

Dorothy Shaw (Dottie) Bower, 82, of Alamogordo, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009, at her home.                          
She was born Jan. 8, 1927, in Carter, Okla., to Johnnie Oliver and Bonnie Dale (Winkler) Shaw. She retired from the civil service at Holloman Air Force Base in 1988 where she worked in accounting and payroll for both the Army and Air Force. She volunteered for Alameda Park Zoo, Friends of the Library and Meals on Wheels through the Alamo Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by a child, Elouise Hymanson, in 1946 and her husband, Jeryl O. Bower, in 1965.
She is survived by her daughter Louise Hymanson (Boogee) Woltz and husband, Bill, of Alamogordo; three grandchildren, Jeri Melton and husband, Roy, of Alamogordo, Christy Clark and husband, John, of Phoenix, and Sean Woltz and wife, Melissa Walker, of Anchorage, Alaska; six great-grandchildren, Amanda Melton, of Amarillo, Texas, and David Melton, of Alamogordo, Corey and Cody Clark, of Phoenix, and Shanniah and Tristen Woltz, of Anchorage; two sisters, Louise Merchant, of Huntsville, Ark., and Thelma Rogers, of Silver City; and two brothers, Harold Shaw, of Buchanan Dam, Texas, and Henry Shaw, of Omaha, Neb.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at St. John's Episcopal Church with Father Frank Wilson officiating.
Inurnment will take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, in Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, W.V.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Alamogordo Home Care/Hospice or the Alamo Senior Center.
The Bower family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
