Dub Hooser Obituary
Dub Hooser, 75, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, in Alamogordo. He was born May 16, 1936, in Girard, Texas, to Joe F. and Vyda (Bowden) Hooser.
Dub was a doodlebugger in the oil fields for many years. In 1962 he married Ruth Mitchell in Carlsbad. In 1964 they bought, owned and operated a Mobile service station. They moved to Alamogordo in 1968 where he was a mechanic for Gene Brock Ford, Sacramento Motors and then Quality Automotive. He then went to work as a welder at the High Speed Test Track at Holloman Air Force Base in the mid 1970s. Dub ran the Cornwell Tool Business in Alamogordo for several years, and was well known for his engine building abilities. He enjoyed his 10 a.m. coffee group, who were very important to him. He was an avid hunter, as well as Dale Ernhardt Sr. and Dallas Cowboys fan.
He is survived by one daughter, Debbie Jarrett, and husband, Kerry, of Alamogordo; grandson Kolt Jarrett, of Alamogordo; sisters Mary Drennan and husband, Paul, of Hemphill, Texas, and Tudy Armstrong and husband, Von, of White Settlement, Texas; brothers Travis Hooser and wife, Sue, of Alamogordo, Bick Hooser and wife, Barbara, of Amarillo, Texas, and Arnett Hooser, of Tucumcari; brother-in-law Brent Yett, of Lubbock, Texas; and sisters-in-law Edie Hooser, of Brooksville, Fla., and Barbara Hooser, of Paradise, Texas.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Hooser; brothers Tex Hooser, Dwayne "Nig" Hooser and Jack Hooser; and sisters Dink Brooks and Alene Yett.
The family will greet friends Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, from 4 until 6 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at 3 p.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral chapel with the Rev. John Hooser officiating.
Private interment will take place at a later date at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Carlsbad.
The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the services.
