Earl A. Rusty Russell, 64, of La Luz and Cloudcroft, lost his courageous battle with cancer and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 7, 2008.
Rusty was born April 4, 1944, in Harlingen, Texas, to Martha and Earl A. Russell Jr. Rusty attended Texas Tech College and was a avid musician and amateur photographer. Rusty was the owner/broker of United Country Aspen Realty in Cloudcroft and was a past president of the Otero County Realtors Association.
He was a member of the Ski Patrol in Cloudcroft, Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club.
For many years, he managed various car dealerships in Colorado and Texas before moving to New Mexico. He was a member of the British Car Club, Alamogordo Historical Vehicle Association and his passion was cars of any kind. For many years, he held the Run to the Aspens Car Show in Cloudcroft.
Rusty will always be remembered for his caring ways and will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Allison, of La Luz; a daughter, Erin Russell; grandsons A. J. and Evan, of Ingleside, Texas; stepfather Jim Loveless, of San Angelo, Texas; and a sister, Jane Loveless, of Grapevine, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Stacey Russell.
Special thanks to the Otero Community Cancer Center, Alamogordo Home Care and Hospice and the volunteers and many special friends and family for their love and support.
Memorial services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2008, at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Chuck Moon officiating. 
The Russell family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Otero Community Cancer Center or Alamogordo Home Care and Hospice.
