Edith Elaine Pidd Beck Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Edith Elaine Pidd Beck, passed away on Sept. 3, 2014, at her home in South Jordan, Utah. Edith was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Oct. 7, 1920, the daughter of John Holden Pidd and Alice May Barnett. She graduated from West High School and later moved to Sacramento, Calif., where she met and married Leon Beck. In 1952 the family moved to Alamogordo where they lived for 55 years.

Edith, who was an accomplished pianist, was instrumental in bringing Community Concerts to Alamogordo. She served as president and a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Concert Association. She was also charter member, president, and active member of the Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for 47 years.
Edith accompanied hundreds of high school music festival students, played for numerous civic events, taught piano and served as church organist for 55 years.
Edith's most recent contribution was the organization of the Legacy Combo and Kazoo Band at Legacy Retirement Residence of South Jordan. The group's monthly concerts were a source of enjoyment to many.
Edith was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served many years as relief society president and in various teaching and leadership positions.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents; her four brothers, Wilford, Harry, James and Joseph Pidd, and by her son-in-law, Gary Dalley.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Dalley (Gary) and Janet Best (Earl), eight grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Legacy House Assisted Living and Aspire Home Health and Hospice for the loving care they provided to Edith during the final weeks of her life.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m.at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday, Sept. 7 from 5-7 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 8 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
