Obituary Condolences

Edna May Maupin, 93, longtime Alamogordo resident, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009, at her home.
Maupin was born on Jan. 5, 1916, in Truscott, Texas, to John R. Cash and Olive Johnson Cash. She married the late Wade Maupin in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Dec. 25, 1935.
In 1945, they moved from El Paso to Alamogordo, where she had lived for the last 64 years. The same year, she and Wade founded, owned and operated Whites Auto and Maupin's Home Furniture, which are still in operation today.
Mrs. Maupin was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She had many hobbies, including playing the piano, crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed crochet and cross-stitch work, which many family members still admire in their homes today.
Edna May was a magnificent cook and family members will never forget her wonderful chocolate pies. She was a member of the Church of Christ, located on 16th Street and Hawaii, for the last 58 years, where she enjoyed singing her favorite church hymns.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Clifton Cash, sisters Aleen Love and Ruthal Janes, and three grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Wadell Maupin and his wife, Charlene, of Alamogordo; daughters Diane Ornelas of Clinton, Okla., Debbie Thrasher and her husband, Junior, of Alamogordo, and Donna Keeling and her husband, Bob, of Medina, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Edna May will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, in the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel with Kenneth Shahan officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kerry Maupin, Nick Barry, Brian Stagner, Russell Childress, Cody Childress, James Maupin and Justin Weber.
Pallbearers will be Robert Keeling, Jim Keeling, Tim Maupin, Tom Love, Todd Love, Mike Stagner, Rusty Childress and Bob Keeling.
The Maupin family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
