Obituary Condolences

Ed Maes was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Arabela to Domingo and Elivera Maes. He passed away in his Alamogordo home on Wednesday, July 29, 2009.
Ed was a longtime resident of Alamogordo, but was raised in the Hondo Valley area on a ranch, where he lived for many years. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from civil service in 1981 at Holloman Air Force Base with more than 20 years of service. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Alamogordo.
Ed was a loving husband, grandfather and friend to many. He will be remembered by the warm smile and care he showed to everyone in his presence.
Ed is survived by his brother, Jose Maes, of Longview, Texas; granddaughters Kristin Gauthier, of Las Cruces, and Rebecca Jenkins, of Alamogordo; daughter-in-law Kathy Jenkins and her husband, Vick, of Alamogordo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who reside in New Mexico and Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Maes; his stepson, Michael Gauthier; his sister, Emilia Maes; and his parents, Domingo and Elvira Maes.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, in the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel, with Chuck Moon officiating.
Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army.
The Maes family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
