Edward Boyd "Ed" Landers Obituary
Edward Boyd "Ed" Landers, 84, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012, in Alamogordo. He was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Alamogordo to Arthur and Viola (Lucas) Landers.
Edward served in the U.S. Army. He was a second-generation machinist at Landers Machine Shop, which was established in 1932. The shop is still in operation, with his son Eddie and wife, Peggy, making its 80th year in operation and one of Alamogordo's oldest businesses.
Ed was also a custom gun maker. He shot every Sunday for decades at Taylor Ranch Range.
Edward is survived by his children, Janice Meyers and husband, Eric, of Phoenix, Joe Landers and wife, Lara, of Weatherford, Texas, Jenny Landers, of Stephenville, Texas, and Eddie Landers and wife, Peggy, of Alamogordo; grandchildren Justin Meyers, Erica Meyers, T. J. Landers and Mikka Landers; six great-grandchildren, Makayla, Dalton, Colby, Sewell, Railey and Logan Moore; and his sister Kathleen Bell, of Des Moines, Iowa. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Black Landers; his parents Arthur and Viola Landers; brother Jack Landers; and a granddaughter, Erin Landers.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at Alamogordo Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Edward Boyd "Ed" Landers will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at First Assembly Worship Center, 801 10th St., Alamogordo, with Pastor David Crispin officiating.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Brunson, Forrest Brunson, Mark Jones, Mike Guy, Tom Simpson and Denny Powell.
Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Cummings, Bill Taylor, Joe Jones, Jim Groves, Royce Jones, Larry Berry, "Val" William Valdreau, Richard Gesting, Mike Shine, Bill McNew, James (Jaime) Anderson, Paul Houston, Joe D'Arezzo and Alex Clements.
The Landers family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
