Retired Air Force master sergeant
Edward C. Avery, 60, of La Luz, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2008, in Alamogordo.
Mr. Avery was born Nov. 19, 1947, in Bronx, N.Y., to Albert John and Veronica Catherine (O'Connell) Avery. He served in the Air Force for 23 years, was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, and retired in 1998 as a master sergeant. Since his military retirement, he had been employed with the civil service at Holloman Air Force Base as a technical advisor for the engine department for the Stealth squadrons.
Survivors include his wife Caryl Avery, of the family home; two sons, Mark Avery, of Tulsa, Okla., and Christopher Avery and his wife Shelley, of Alamogordo; five daughters, Kathy Avery, of Oklahoma City, Theresa Avery and Victoria Cadwallader, of the family home, Kimberly Cadwallader, of Alamogordo, and Christina Stubbs, of La Luz; three grandchildren, Dagon Stubbs, of La Luz, and Angelina Avery and Morgan Avery, both of Alamogordo; three brothers, Billy Avery and his wife Barbara, and Richie Avery and his wife Mary, all of Tolland, Conn., and Ronnie Avery, of Atlanta; and two sisters, Barbara Avery, of Manchester, N.Y., and Helene Avery, of Bolton, Conn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with Pastor David Crispin officiating.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
