Edward Eugene "Gene" Miller

Obituary Condolences

Edward Eugene "Gene" Miller, 69, passed away Saturday April 26, 2008, at Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces.
Gene was born in Lubbock, Texas, Sept. 15, 1938, to Carl and Novella Miller. Gene served in the Air Force for four years, retired from the civil service in 1983 and worked for Dyn Corp. for several years.
Gene enjoyed woodcarving, fishing, boating and spending time with family. He worked consistently to develop a stronger relationship with the Lord. His daily prayers included his church family, our government and most of all, that his family - children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren - would hunger and thirst for the Lord. Even through the most difficult time in his battle with cancer, he remembered to thank God for the blessings of each day.
Survivors include Diane Miller, his wife of 26 years; son Lee Lueras, of La Luz, brother Danny and wife Donna, of Plainview, Texas; stepsons Gonzalo Estrada and wife Lynn, of Tularosa, and Leo Estrada and wife Diana, of Las Vegas, Nev.; stepdaughters Rita Guillot and husband Dwayne, of Alamogordo, and Margaret Calderon, of Las Cruces; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and best friend Jim and wife Judy Peak, of Tahoka, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Novella Miller; son C.G. Lueras, stepson Willie Estrada, and grandson Isaac Calderon.
Pallbearers will be Steven Miller, Tracy Miller, Pat Coughlin, Robert Trevizo, Dwayne Guillot and Dwayne Guillot Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Tyson officiating.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
Family will greet friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel.
