Edward J. "Ed" Pavelka Obituary
Edward J. "Ed" Pavelka, 76, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010, in Alamogordo.
Mr. Pavelka was born July 28, 1933, in Chicago to Stanley John and Mary (Panos) Pavelka. He served as a tower operator with the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, he met and married Angeline C. Vetelino on June 21, 1958, in Westerly, R.I. They soon moved to Alamogordo where he was the owner/operator of Ed's Flying Service for over 50 years. He was a life member of the B.P.O. Eagles Lodge 1897 and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Arie No. 4101.
He was preceded in death by his brother Tony Pavelka.
Survivors include his wife, Angie Pavelka, of the family home; a son, Bob Pavelka, and wife, Cindy, of Alamogordo; a daughter, Lisa Pavelka McAlister, of New York City; granddaughter April Pavelka; and two grandsons, Dylan and Devin, of New York City.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel with Father Wayne Herpin, S.J., officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be given to Zia Therapy Center or Flickinger Center for Performing Arts.
The Pavelka family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
