Edward Lee Pfingsten, 81
Edward Lee Pfingsten, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, in Abilene, Texas.
He was born on Oct. 13, 1929, in El Paso, to Charles and Lucille (Miles) Pfingsten. He graduated from Tularosa High School in 1947.
On Oct. 3, 1952, Ed was united in marriage to Margaret Hobbs in Las Cruces. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Edward and Margaret farmed and ranched in Brown and Comanche counties for more than 40 years. He was a surveyor for Comanche County for more than 20 years. He was also a registered public surveyor for many years, founded Pfingsten Surveyors, and later sold real estate for Arrowhead Land Co.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Pfingsten, of Blanket, Texas; children Cynthia Robey, of Temple, Texas, Donna and David Brooks, of Early, Texas, Roy and Cheryl Pfingsten, of Blanket, Nelda Pfingsten, of Simi Valley, Calif., Joyce and Wayne McGlothlin, of Temple, Mozelle and Nelson Sattler, of Comanche, Texas, Rob and Keeda Pfingsten, of Salado, Texas, and Jimmy and Dee Robison, of De Leon, Texas; 20 grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by sister and brother-in-law Clara and Dee Simpson, of La Luz.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Audra Lea Chasteen.
The family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011.
Graveside service for Edward Lee Pfingsten will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Rock Church Cemetery in Blanket, Texas, with the Rev. Gerald Burns officiating.
Comanche Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
