Edwina Sword Obituary
Edwina Sword of La Luz, N.M., was born on Nov. 1, 1940, in Alpine, Texas. She went to be with the angels on June 4, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Carlota Gallego, and her sister Lorena Gallego. She was a loving wife and homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother.

Edwina was a veteran and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. She devoted her life to her family and home. She was a member of the Otero County Extension Association for over thirty years as a member of Alamo Doce and Calico Clubs. She was a master seamstress and a master gardener. There was not a craft that she could not master. Edwina was also member of the American Legion Post 34.

Edwina is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, David Sword of La Luz; her daughter Jeri Lynn Sword, her life partner, Kathy Fehlberg and their daughter, Samantha Sword-Fehlberg of Cedar Crest, N.M.; her son, Michael Sword, his wife, Robin Sword, their children, Heather Sword and Brandon Beightol of Mountain Home, Idaho; and her great grandsons, Sylas and Kaiden Beightol. She is also survived by her brother. Henry Gallego of California, and her sisters Arlene Villa and Frances Barbee of Bakersfield, Calif.

Edwina's memorial will be held at the Burro Flats Fire Station, Laborcita Canyon Rd., at 11 a.m., on June 23, 2016. Friends are asked to bring a salad or dessert.

The funeral will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m., on June 24, 2016. Honor Guard provided by Kirkland AFB.
