In 1982, they moved to Alamogordo and picked up where she left off and became the church secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alamogordo.
After Raymond's death, Elenore joined her youngest son as a crew member on the Niña, a replica of one of Christopher Columbus' ships. For nine years, she ventured out every spring, returning for the last time in December 2009. She loved the Niña and called her "a very special lady, indeed."
Elenore was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband Raymond. She is survived by her sons Gary (Ann), of Guadalupe National Park, Texas and Las Cruces, and Jeffrey, Phelps, of Wisconsin; and her daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Scott Launer, of Alamogordo.
