Elias G. Calles Obituary

On Sept. 6, 2014 in Alamogordo, NM, Elias G. Calles who was dear to many made his way into eternity. He was born to Elias Calles and Delfina G. Calles on Jan. 6, 1930.

A lifelong resident of Alamogordo, Elias was more than a husband, dad, grandfather and even great-grandfather. He was a close friend to many. His life consisted of service, not only to our country as a proud U.S. Army soldier who served in the Korean War, but to the people around him, his family and most importantly to the only Lord and Savior of the world Jesus Christ. He put time, service and his heart into working at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church which was something that he enjoyed until he was not physically able to do so. His commitment and dedication has not gone unnoticed and is appreciated by many.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 50 years, Maria "Nena" Calles, sisters, Margarita Briseno, Anne Trujillo and his parents, Elias and Delfina.

His family who remain on this side of eternity include, his children Elias Calles and wife Lorene of La Luz; Alicia Guenther and husband Juergen of Alamogordo; Cecilia Sisneros of Albuquerque; Robert Calles and wife Amanda of Alamogordo; and Miguel Calles of Greenly, Colo. His grandchildren include Cruz Calles; Hadassah Silva; Nathan Calls; Benjamin Silva; Gabriel Brady; Samantha Calles; Jonathan Calles; Robert Calles; Bianca Calles; and Louis Calles; several great-grandchildren; as well as his brother Monsignor Roberto Calles; and many nieces and nephews.

Elias' straight forwardness, honesty, humor and wit will be missed by many. So, even in this we should thank and praise God that He put Elias on this earth, in our lives and forever in our hearts.

A memorial service in Elias G. Calles' honor will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alamogordo.
