Elida Flores Mejia, entered into rest March 13, 2016, in Dallas, Texas. She passed from complications of her long term illness. Elida was born on March 31, 1950, in Del Rio, Texas to Antonio and Josefa Flores.

Survivors include her husband, Juan P. Mejia Jr., of the family home; her daughters, Pauline F. Cuellar (Pa.), Candice Abalos (Ariz.), and Claudia Orona of Alamogordo; brother, David Flores and wife Enedelia; sisters, Dora Correa and Anabelia Villegas and husband Idelfonro; and numerous family members. Elida had twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren that she loved unconditionally.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Josefa Flores; brothers, Ubil Flores and Raul Flores; sister, Estela Avila; and daughter, Michele Ann Cuellar.

Before she retired, Elida worked at Holloman Air Force Base for many years as an Educational Technician, School Age Services. She loved and enjoyed working with the children of all ages. Elida's passion in life was listening to music, dancing, and enjoying life.

Our family would like to thank those who cared for her as she struggled and fought her disease to the very end. The poem below says it all and hope that this will give everyone, family and friends, comfort.

God's Garden
God looked around his garden
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew that you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone...
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

Burial services will follow in Del Rio, Texas at a future date.

The Mejia family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
