Ella Jane (Jackson) Valley Obituary
Ella Jane Jackson Valley was born to Taft Elvin Jackson and Isabell Cook on Feb. 9, 1947, in Jena, La., in Lasalle Parrish.
Ella, named after her grandmother, attended and graduated Goodpine High School on May 24, 1964. Her favorite subject while in school was home economics.
She accepted Christ and was baptized in Louisiana at a very young age.
Following graduation from high school, she moved to Alamogordo visiting with her aunt Susie Smith and cousins Johnnie and Jeannette Smith. She met her first and only love, David "Dave" Valley. They were united in holy matrimony March 26, 1966. This union was blessed with one daughter, Carla Althea.
She and her husband united with the First Baptist Church in Alamogordo. She loved children and had served in the church children's nursery for numerous years. She also provided a personal home child care service, having reared many children here in the city.
Ella, 65 years of age, departed this life Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave, on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004; her mother; one brother, Joe Louis Hart; and one stepson, Huey David Valley, on March 3, 2008.
Her memory will be long remembered and cherished by her daughter Carla A. Valley, of Los Angles; her father, Taft Jackson, and stepmother, Ruth, of Jena; one stepdaughter-in-law, Betty, of Amarillo, Texas; one stepson, Billy McKinney, and wife, Ruby, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Willie Andrews "W.A." Hart and wife, of Jena, Philmore "Bubba" Hart, of Texas; four grandchildren, Lora and Crissy Valley, of Amarillo, Kimberly McKinney, of Colorado Springs, and Althea Nicole McBride, of Los Angeles; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many loving friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel with W.W.W. Fountain officiating.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The Valley family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
