Eloisa “Lisa” S. Ortega Obituary

Eloisa "Lisa" S. Ortega, 78, passed away after her battle with Alzheimer's disease on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, in Alamogordo.
She was born on June 13, 1936, in Alamogordo, to Ygnacio and Cruz (Sanchez) Sarmiento.

Eloisa married the love of her life Pedro Ortega III on March 11, 1956. The couple shared 56 beautiful years of marriage and created a beautiful family together. Eloisa retired from the Alamogordo Public Schools after more than 25 years of service. Eloisa's greatest joy, other than her family, was singing in the Immaculate Conception Catholic church choir. She also enjoyed exercising with her friends at the Alamogordo Senior Center. She was an inspiration to all who knew her because of her strength and support in caring for her entire family. She never gave up her faith in the Lord. We will miss her sense of humor and contagious laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband.

Eloisa is survived by her sisters Mary Schmidt, Connie Salazar, Jovita (Joe) Garcia and Anita (Gilbert) Aguilar. She was also survived by her brothers Juan (Christina) Sarmiento, Ygnacio Sarmiento Jr. and Pedro (Gloria) Sarmiento, and by her children Alicia, Cindy, Art, Margaret and Veronica Ortega; her grandchildren Jerome, Steven, Joseph, Amanda, Sarah, Paul, Marissa, Antonio, Logan and Caleb; great-grandchildren Madison, Jaden, Jase, Audiana, Dominic and Angelique, and many other nieces and nephews.

The rosary will be recited by Linda Villabisencio at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 4, at Immaculate Conception Catholic church, 705 Delaware Avenue, Alamogordo. Celebration of life will follow the rosary at 10 a.m., with Deacon Pete Schumacher as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Jerome Gonzales, Paul Marzan, Steven Roberts, Joey Roberts, Antonio Silva, Logan Ortega and Caleb Ortega. Honorary pallbearers are David Ashe, Rudy Salazar, Robert Salazar, Richard Salazar, Adrian Ruiz, and Guillermo Coyazo.
The family will greet friends at the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, located at 2301 First Street, Alamogordo.
