Eppie Vernice Van Winkle Cady Obituary

Eppie Vernice Van Winkle was born in Weed, New Mexico on December 10, 1934. She graduated from Weed High School and moved to Alamogordo where she married RL Cady on April 14, 1961.

Eppie worked at the Otero County Courthouse and after that was co-owner of Ponderosa Plumbing with her husband RL as well as housewife and mother. She enjoyed being outdoors doing yard work and tending to her animals and grandkids. They had one son, Stanton Blain Cady and four grandchildren, Sara Wilson and Seth Wilson of Lubbock, Texas; and Reese and Riley Cady of Alamogordo, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Van Winkle and mother, Anna Ogden; brother, Earl Van Winkle; sister, Barbara Van Winkle; grandson, Brandon Ty Cady; and infant granddaughter.

Survivors include her husband, RL Cady; brothers, Pete Van Winkle and wife Marian; brother, Jake Van Winkle; sister, Mary Elizabeth Connelly; brother, Dan Ogden; sister, Marque Mitchel and husband Joel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Pete and Marian Van Winkle, June Cady, Donna Miller, and Rowena Cady.

The funeral service for Eppie Cady will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday January 4, 2016, at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Reese Cady, Riley Cady, Stanton Cady, Steve Reay, Forrest Brunson and Gary Stome.

The Cady family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
