Ermenia Crawford Obituary

Ermenia Rodriquez Crawford, age 93, beloved and devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on November 21, 2016, in Alamogordo, N.M. She was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on April 25, 1923, to Simon and Maria Rodriquez. She met the love of her life, Frank Crawford, while he was working in Los Angeles during WWII. On September 5, 1943, they married in Los Angeles. During WWII while Frank was deployed with the Second Marines at Guadalcanal, they continuously wrote to each other. When Frank returned from WWII, they began their married life first in Seattle, Washington and later in Tularosa, N.M.

Ermenia was a beautiful woman with an infectious laugh. She was a devoted Catholic and a long-time member of the St Francis de Paula Catholic Church. She enjoyed socializing with friends and relatives, and cooking for all who entered her home. Ermenia volunteered and was active with the school activities of her children. She always maintained that her greatest treasures called her Mother and Grandmother. She loved her family, her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, her cousins and all her friends. Ermenia was a devoted daughter, a loving wife, a comforting Mother, a dedicated teacher to her children, a true and loyal friend, and a spoiling Grandmother.

No buildings were named after her; no monuments were erected in her honor. But she DID have the chance to know and love each and every friend as well as all her family members. How much more blessed can a person be? So in the end, she would probably say "I'll leave you with this…please don't cry because I'm gone; instead be happy that I was here. Today I am happy and I'm dancing with Daddy."

Ermenia was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her son, Victor; her parents, Simon and Maria Rodriquez; her brothers and her sisters.

Survivors include her four daughters, Mary Frances Padilla and husband Richard of Alamogordo, Margaret de la O and Al Costa of Fremont, Calif., Lucille Beach of Alamogordo and Elizabeth Crawford-Lopez and husband Martin III of Albuquerque; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m., on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. immediately thereafter, at St Francis de Paula Catholic Church with Father Theo, O.F.M., Celebrant. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Ermenia will be laid to rest next to her husband, Frank.
Pallbearers include, Steven de la O, Chris Padilla, Victor Crawford, Jason Beach, Joseph Beach, and Rebecca Servian. Honorary Pallbearers include, all Ermenia's Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

The Crawford family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
