Through the almost 40 years of his musical career, he played with numerous bands and recorded many songs with Los Diamontes, of Las Cruces. He was living in Albuquerque and working in Santa Fe for BSN Santa Fe, an engineering consulting firm, where he was a material analyst.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lucy Chavez; daughter Dominica (Nikki) Chavez; and four grandchildren, which he adored with all his heart, Anthony Matta, Aaliyah Matta, Elias Matta, and Emmanuel Matta.
He will also be missed by his mom, Angelina Chavez, of Alamogordo; and two brothers, Eddie and Michael Chavez, of Las Cruces. He will also be missed by his niece, Angelisa (Angel) Chavez, of Alamogordo.
