Esther L. Kessinger
Esther L. Kessinger, 87, passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010. She was born March 26, 1923, and raised on a wheat farm in the panhandle of Oklahoma. She was an artist, a musician and a teacher. Esther lived through the depression and dust bowl years.
Esther was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Alamogordo and recently attended the First Baptist Church in Fort Collins, Colo.
Esther is survived by her daughter Kathleen "Katie" (Carrol Lee) Hoover, sister Carol (Don) Talley, brother-in-law Dr. Dale Dotter, daughter-in-law Jan Kessinger and former daughter-in-law Bonnie Schneider. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Diana Lynn Hoover, Mark L. Hoover and Eric A. Kessinger and wife, Dr. Stacee Kessinger; three great-grandchildren, Melissa Hoover Lemke and husband, Vince, Jennifer Hoover and Andrew Leo Kessinger; and one great-great-granddaughter, Madilyn Mae Lemke. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Leo W. Kessinger; son Eugene A. Kessinger; and three sisters, Ruth Cosby, Alice Dotter and Ella Brehmer.
The family wishes to express thanks to the wonderful staff of New Mercer Commons in Fort Collins for their excellent and compassionate care of Esther during the last four years.
The funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at the Hamilton-O'Dell chapel with the Rev. Bill Campbell officiating.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
The Kessinger family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral service.
