Esther P Rodriguez Jones Obituary
Esther Jones passed into the loving arms of our savior at her home in Alamogordo, New Mexico on August 3, 2018. Esther was born and raised in El Paso, TX to parents Jose Rodriguez and Braulia Valenzuela Rodriguez
Esther finished high school in El Paso and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1952, attending boot camp in Parris Island, South Carolina. She worked in the administrative field as a secretary for most of her time in the Marine Corps. She attended Language School and became a Spanish language interpreter. She attained the rank of Sergeant.
Esther married Marine Al Jones on August 1, 1958. Esther worked in Civil Service for over 29 years where ever Al was stationed. They were both very active in veteran's groups especially the Marine Corps League where Esther served in many state and local positions. Esther and Al assisted with a Young Marines program in California. Esther was the founder of local ZIA Detachment 850 and had been a member of the Women Marines Association. She also drove the local DMV van for several years driving veterans to out of town doctor's appointments.
Esther was proceeded in death by her husband Al Jones, her parents, 10 siblings, and son Eric Jones.
She is survived by daughters Joni Stolnack and Cheryl Jones and son Clinton Bailey, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Alamogordo Home Health Care and Hospice for their care and support.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1505 College Ave., Alamogordo at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss Cemetery, El Paso, Texas on a later date. Donations toward funeral expenses are greatly appreciated. Arrangements are being made through Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home.
