Ethel Marie West Obituary

Ethel Marie was born to William and Pearl (Butler) Reisacher in Granite City, Ill., and raised her three sons with her husband, Russell Koenig West. She and her family were all longtime members of Neidringhaus Methodist Church in Granite City where she was, for many years, organist and/or choir director.
After Russell's retirement she and Russell moved to Alamogordo in 1972 where they were active members of the Grace United Methodist Church. She remained active with her music as organist in small neighboring community churches into her 90s.
For more than 30 years she was an active member of the Alamo Senior Center and a volunteer delivery person for Meals on Wheels. She would say, ""It's not so much the food. They need someone to talk to.""
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, in 1980 and lived in their home with her prized rose garden until August 2011 when she entered the Care Center in Mescalero.
She is survived by her sons and their families, Richard West and wife, Dotti, and grandson Russell West; Jim West (James) and wife, Carol, and grandson David Carl West and wife, Amy Baird, and great-grandchildren Kristin West, Susan Ensor (West), Brian Ensor, Bailey Ensor and Kevin Ensor; and David West and wife, Doris.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at Grace United Methodist Church in Alamogordo with the Rev. Mary Taken officiating.
Interment with be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates near Granite City, Ill.
