Eufrasia Sanchez Romero Obituary

Eufrasia Sanchez Romero, 94, was escorted by the angels to her heavenly home in paradise on Nov. 15, 2014.

Eufrasia was born in Glencoe on May 27, 1920, to Manuelita and Salomon Sanchez. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter and sister. Nothing was more important to her than her family. She loved cooking, especially for the holidays, enjoyed housekeeping, babysitting her grandchildren and taking care of her yard. There wasn't a chore too challenging for her -- from making adobes to build the family home in her younger days to making wooden shutters for that same home at the age of 75. When she set her mind on something, there was no changing it.
She enjoyed reading, especially the Bible and Catholic periodicals, and praying for the many intentions of her family and friends. She was grateful for every blessing and heartache she experienced in her lifetime. She was a unique, special woman that will forever be remembered and loved.

Eufrasia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steve Romero; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Sammy Brusuelas; grandson, Robert Brusuelas; her sisters, Virginia Randall, Telesfora Pena, Anatalia Herrera, Consolacion Silva, Eduvigen Silva, Amalia Sanchez; her brothers, Salomon, Enrique, Carlos, Luvin and Albert Sanchez.

Eufrasia is survived by three daughters, Rosalie Romero of Tularosa, Patsy Gutierrez, and Rita Diaz-Yarter (Claude) of Las Cruces; nine grandchildren, Jared Romero, Robert Patrick and Mark Gutierrez, Robert and Ezra Diaz (Trish), Seth Yarter (Heather), Eufrasia Neeley (Brock), Sammy Ray Brusuelas, and Teresa Coburn (Jeff). She was also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, Saydee Gutierrez, Kendrick Diaz, Nichole Baca, Domenick Diaz, Mikaella Yarter, Maddie and Jonah Neeley, Raymond Brusuelas, Michele, Jeremiah and Joshua Coburn, and Christopher Brusuelas; three great-great grandchildren, Isia and Ana Brusuelas, and Jace Coburn. Also surviving Eufrasia is one brother, Porfirio Sanchez, and two sisters-in-law, Eva and Alvesa Sanchez.

Rosary will be recited at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014. Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church, with burial immediately following at Fairview Cemetery in Tularosa.
Eufrasia's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The Romero family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
