Thank you all for your prayers for our father Eugene T. Chavez.
We are having a military memorial service for our dad Friday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m., at White Sands Community 602 S. Florida Ave. #202 Alamogordo. Reception to follow at White Sands Community, at the club house.
Please send any cards, flowers, or food to same address. There will be a Marine Corp Honor Guard, DAV Marine Guard, and the patriots group as well.

Eugene T. Chavez, 72, went to his rest in the house of our Lord on August 24, 2014.
He was born on Dec. 25, 1941, to Ted and Emma Chavez in Tucumcari, N.M.

The family moved to Alamogordo where he was raised and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1961-1965. He later worked for the City of Alamogordo and retired. He married Nellie Luevano in 1967.
He is survived by his children Kathleen D. Luevano of Ruidoso; Patricia A. Avila and her husband Larry of Alamogordo; Thomas Eugene Chavez and his wife Irene of Tularosa, and James C. Chavez also of Ruidoso.
He has 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings include: brother Joseph R. Chavez and his wife Esperanza of San Diego, Calif.; sister Joann Denton and her husband Frank of Alamogordo; sister Dolores Gomez and her husband Fred of El Paso, Texas, and sister Elizabeth Castillo of Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father Ted and Emma Chavez, a brother Ronald Chavez, and a brother-in-law Ted Castillo.

Services are pending with family members at the Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home and will be posted at a later date.
