Eugenia A. (Genie) Wade Obituary

Eugenia A. (Genie) Wade passed away Jan. 26, 2016.

Genie is survived by her three daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; Pat Raub and her husband Dave Raub, Wade Raub and Carl Raub. Beckie Janosek, Rad Dunn, Kelli Dunn and AveBella Vigil-Dunn. Karen Kane, Matthew, Nancy, and Reese Kane. Molly Kane and Andrew Gunderson and Mary Kane. Her sister, Mary A. Work. She is loved and will be missed by numerous cousins, nieces and grand nieces, nephews and grand nephews. She is also survived by the staff of Alamogordo Home Health Care and Hospice along with multitudes of loving friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon O. Wade, brothers and sisters-in-laws; Colvin (Sonny) and Alice Agnew; Glenn (Jake) and Ethelyn Agnew; Felix D. Work; her parents, Clarence and Esther Agnew (daddy and mother); grandparents, Matthew and Mabel Hunt (papa and mema); and son-in-law, Leo S. Kane.

Genie was born in Alamogordo on September 29, 1926. She lived most of her young life in La Luz, until she married Weldon and they moved to Alamogordo. She and Weldon built Alamo Sheet Metal Works, Inc. during their lives together. After Weldon's passing in 1997, Genie moved right over to managing her daughter's business, Alamogordo Home Health Care and Hospice, where she served staff and clients until her recent passing.

Genie's parents and grandparents are among the many founding families of Alamogordo. They had a dairy and small farm at the corner of Cuba and 14th Streets, called Rose Acres. She is a 1944 graduate of Alamogordo High School. Genie and her sister, Mary worked for the USO until her marriage in 1946.

The word retirement was not in Genie's vocabulary. She was at the job she loved the day she entered the hospital whereupon she passed a few days later.

A memorial service celebrating her life has been arranged for Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 3 p.m., at the church she loved, St. John's Episcopal.

The family invites you to a reception in the parish hall immediately following services. As she wished, she has been cremated with ashes to be scattered in La Luz Canyon.
