Fletcher Bliss Thompson Obituary
Fletcher Bliss Thompson passed away at his home in La Luz, N.M., after a brief illness. A beloved soul, missed by his family -- his wife Rosalie Thompson, and adult children Fletcher Thompson Jr. of Loveland, Colo., Karin Fussell and her husband Tom Fussell of Alamogordo, Mark Thompson of Alamogordo, and Kristin Maston of La Luz, N.M., brothers/sisters-in-law Roy and Paula Thompson of Albuquerque, and James/Connie Thompson of Placentia, Calif., also 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren

Fletcher Bliss Thompson received his Master's Divinity Degree from McCormick University in Chicago, Ill. He was invited to become the minister of the Presbyterian Church in Alamogordo, N.M., following Rev. Lacy Simms, and served Alamogordo, N.M., in the late 1950's until the mid-1960s. He moved on to become a Unitarian minister in Ft. Collins, Colo., for five years, and then moved to Aspen, Colo., where he became a valued ski instructor at Aspen Highlands and a metal sculptor. During that time he joined the Transcendental Meditation group in Switzerland, with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi for a number of years, including teaching in India, where he initiated over 500 people into Transcendental Meditation. He also taught TM teachers in India, France, and Switzerland. Over the years he wrote extensively and became an accomplished artist, creating oil paintings of Cloudcroft's aspens which are in many private collections. Fletcher Bliss Thompson lived a full, joyful life, and made valued contributions to others, many of whose lives joyfully touched his.

The Thompson family will have private family services, but invite messages on the Hamilton O'Dell web site.
We are happy to share a favorite quotation from him:
"Our dreams will soar in harmony with our destiny -- so relax in our journey among the stars." -- Fletcher Bliss Thompson 12/28/2000

The Thompson family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
