1925 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
Frances Dale Evans Obituary

Frances Dale Evans went home to her Lord and Savior on April 29, 2016. She was born on May 20, 1925, in Rogers, Ark., to Eugene M. and Anna Dale. She moved to Alamogordo at the age of 10 and graduated from Alamogordo High School. Frances could "call the hogs" with pride and received a degree in Business from the University of Arkansas in 1948. Fred B. Evans took her hand in marriage Dec. 28, 1950, and they continued their adventure for more than 51 years.

Frances was a beautiful, gracious lady. Her outward honors included Commerce Queen at the University of Arkansas, Sun Bowl Princess, and Mrs. Alamogordo but more importantly she loved the Lord. She was a life-long member of the Cuba Ave. Church of Christ where she taught 4th grade Bible class for many years and participated in numerous ladies activities.

Mrs. Evans loved New Mexico and particularly Alamogordo. She served with many civic organizations from PTA president to United Federation of Women's Clubs local and state president. While serving, she oversaw projects in Fine Arts and Community Improvement. Frances loved to tell stories of growing up in small town Alamogordo and became a guest speaker at many civic and church organizations. This speech took written form and is available at the Otero County Museum.

Frances was a true homemaker; she took pride in her home and family, and excelled in sewing and cooking. She placed and also won a Vogue sewing contest. Family traditions were continued and new ones were birthed. A cup of coffee at 4 pm or dessert and coffee at 4 pm on Sunday just make the world seem right. The Christmas gingerbread waffles are now being enjoyed by the fifth generation.
Frances and her husband Fred were blessed to travel the United States and Canada. The family would annually join them in Colorado. Every trip included a special event which might include horseback riding, inner-tubing, whitewater rafting, Alpine sliding, or melodramas. Frances you will be missed but never forgotten!

Frances Evans is preceded in death by her parents Eugene M. and Anna Dale, one brother Eugene M. Dale Jr., and her husband Fred B. Evans Jr.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Becky and Galen Bock of Midland, Texas, and sister Bobbie Nickless of Miami, Fla. Other family includes foster son Tom Reynolds of Las Cruces; grandchildren Raebecca Kuhnley, Marybeth Reynolds, Timothy Bock, Thomas Reynolds Jr., great grandchildren Colton, Brandon, and Lily Bock, Grayer Kuhnley, Jeordan Reynolds, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home on Friday, May 6, 2016, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be at Monte Vista Cemetery on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 10 a.m., with Joshua Kuhnley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to a charity close to your heart.
