Frances Lucero, 90
Our beloved mother passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010. Frances Lucero made the journey to the age of 90. Frances Lucero was born Frances Alvarez on Feb. 12, 1920, in Lake Valley. She lived in her own home until her death, the home built by her husband, Jose, and their sons, in Alamogordo.
Our mother was preceded in death by her husband, our father, Jose B. Lucero. She recently lost her sister Juanita Lucero this year. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and her parents.
She is survived by one sister and one brother, both of Hatch.
Our dear mother is survived by her eight children: sons Antonio and his wife, Beatrice, of Phoenix; Tim and his wife, Gerry, of Pueblo, Colo.; Robert and Linda, of Las Cruces; Jesus, of Las Cruces; and Daniel and Melissa, of San Jose; her daughters Maria and Joe Kush, of Phoenix; Sally and her husband, Chris Columbus, of North Port, Fla.; and Molly and her husband, Zig Bugaj, of Alamogordo. Mom had 21 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. We cannot forget her beloved companion, Queenie.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel by Mrs. Dolores Otero. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Juan Montoya, celebrant.
Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home before the rosary.
Our family extends our thanks to all who have remembered Mom. We would like to serve lunch at her house for all our friends and family.
The Lucero family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
