Lt. Col., U.S.A.F., retired
Francis Patrick McGough, 86, of Alamogordo, passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at his home.
He was born in Waterbury, Conn., to Martin Patrick and Catherine Frances (Shea) McGough. Mr. McGough married Lorraine Fuller on April 10, 1948, in Watertown, Conn. He retired from the U.S. Air Force on July 31, 1967, after 25 years of service. Francis served his country during World War II as a P-51 fighter pilot in Europe and went on to serve in Korea and Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Fuller) McGough, of the family home; their seven children, one daughter, Susan M McGough, of Alamogordo, and six sons, Francis J McGough, of Hawaii, Hawaii, Donald T. McGough, of Pearl City, Hawaii, David C. McGough, Richard J. McGough and wife, Patricia, of Waipahu, Hawaii, Kevin M. McGough and wife, Leilani, of Hawaii, and Mark L. McGough and wife, Catherine, of Plano, Texas; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Francis was a member of the Elks, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and a life member of the Daedalians.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alamogordo with Fr. Bruce Hausfeld, O.F.M., officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Holloman Air Force Base Steel Talons Honor Guard. A reception is to follow at the Elks Lodge, 2290 Hamilton Road in Alamogordo.
