Frankie Edwards Saulnier departed this life on Sept. 25, 2008, eager to be with the Lord. She was born in Winslow, Ariz. on Feb. 22, 1922. Her beloved parents were James Barrett Edwards and Bertie (Wilson) Edwards.
Her early schooling took place in Winslow, followed by Business College. Her long and varied working career began at age 18 in California followed by employment in Arizona, Washington, DC in the Women's Army Corps working at the Pentagon, then moved to Albuquerque and finally finished as the Base Commander's secretary at Holloman Air Force Base.
She married Edward Raney Saulnier in 1946 who preceded her in death in 1980. She is predeceased by siblings; Homer Edwards of Albuquerque, and Mildred Dobbyn of Mena, Ariz.
She is survived by Lt. Col. Wilson V. "Bill" and wife Barbara Edwards, USAF Ret. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son Edward B. Saulnier of Alamogordo; daughter Marcia and Earl Stirman of Alamogordo; granddaughter Dacia and Jim Rutske of Albuquerque and their children Blake and Cody; grandson Clay and April Stirman of Houston, Texas and their daughter, Emma Sharber; sisters-in-law Doris Edwards of Albuquerque and Claire Saulnier; a step-sister Margaret E. Croft of Sebring, Fla.; sister-in-law Madeline Peaslee of Leesburg, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many special loved ones.
Frankie has been a member of Cottonwood Christian Fellowship, Hospital Auxiliary, Republican Women of Otero County and Women's Aglow.
Frankie and her husband Ed built and owned the Alamogordo KOA in 1970-1978. It was the number one KOA in the country for several years.
Hospice was through the loving care of Alamogordo Home Care/Hospice.
Pallbearers are Richard McWhirter, Randy Burroughs, Michael Shyne, Fred Baker, Doug Keegan, Dick Rahn. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Rathgeber, Judge Richard Stanley, Web Webster, Smokey Robertson, Bud Bagwell, Arlan Hauge, John Lattauzio, Ben King II, Rod Beckett, Maurice Hobson and Jimmy Dominguez.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel.
Services are through Cottonwood Christian Fellowship with Terry Green of the Navigators in Colorado Springs, Colo., Pastor Robert Smith and Pastor Merle Lindsey of Mountain View Assembly of God.
Private burial will take place in El Paso at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery where she will be interred with her husband.
The family will greet friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Alamogordo Funeral Home.
The Saulnier family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
