Obituary Condolences

Fredrick N. Nielsen, 80, of Alamogordo, passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Casa Arena Blanca Nursing Center.
Nielsen was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Creighton, Neb., to Fred and Myrtle Christina (Johnson) Nielsen. He married Virginia Mae Addleman on Aug. 30, 1947, in Scottsbluff, Neb. He worked for a Caterpillar dealer in Scottsbluff for 13 years.
In 1960, he moved to Albuquerque, where he worked for Rust Tractor Co. He retired as a technical service manager in 1987. Nielsen then became a member of Laborers for Christ with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He worked on more than 20 projects, building churches and educational buildings. During his time, he made two trips to Africa and one to Denmark to work for the Laborers for Christ Mission Board. He was a member of Laborers for Christ Standing Committee from 1992 to 1998. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, a Boy Scout master, church trustee, Elder and Sunday School superintendent. 
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mildred.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia M. Nielsen, of the family home; two daughters, Nora Sotak and husband, Richard, of Alamogordo, and Ruth Fogleman and husband, George, of Bosque Farms; two sons, Nels Nielsen and wife, Teresa, of Mesa, Ariz. and Chris Nielsen and wife, Jan, of Silver City; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene Nielsen of Denver, and a sister, Luella Schmidt, of Gering, Neb.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Bill Heithold officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ray Krueger, Bob Klose, Vince Oberling, Bob Thede, Daro Alleidinger and Larry Van Duyn.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1505 College Ave., Alamogordo.
