1922 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Gaines Allen Cook passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012, in Alamogordo. He was born in Talpa, Texas, on Sept. 22, 1922, to Gaines (Pete) F. and Lula Mae Cook.
He is survived by Juanita Cook; his son Pete Cook and his wife, Kathleen, of Alamogordo; granddaughter Lisa Hanchett, of Farmington; grandson Peter G. Cook, of Los Lunas; daughter Carolyn Cummings and husband, David; two granddaughters, Deedra and husband, Robin Terrell, and Angie and husband, Kevin Bachmann, all of Lovington; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy and husband, George Gould, of Coleman, Texas, and Lorena Jackson, of Odessa, Texas; sister-in-law Elizabeth Cook, of Coleman, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors and its adventures. His annual attendance of the Cook family reunion was the bright spot of his year. He and Juanita owned and operated Hobbs Anchor and Road Boring Service in Hobbs for over 20 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of the Masons and the VFW.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
