Genevieve Birch Bloys Obituary
Genevieve Birch Bloys, 95, of Louisville, Colo., died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at her residence.
Family memorials will be held in Fort Davis, Texas, and Griggsville, Ill., in the future.
Genevieve was born Sept. 26, 1917, to Arland and Ada (Newman) Birch in Griggsville, Ill. She attended the local schools in Griggsville, and later attained her Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado A&M (now Colorado State University) in Fort Collins, Colo., and her teaching certificate from Sacrament State University in Sacramento, Calif.
She married Warren D. Bloys Jr., of Fort Davis, in 1938 in Fort Collins. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Genevieve and her family moved to Billings, Mont., in 1946 after Warren returned from World War II. In 1957, they moved to Sacramento and then to Albuquerque in 1959. Genevieve taught home economics and science at the junior high/middle school level for 10 years. She was very active in the PTA and scouting when her children were young.
In 1970, they moved to Alamogordo, where she was active in the White Sands chapter of DAR and served as secretary. She worked as a "friend" of the Alamogordo library and donated many books on genealogy. Genevieve was a charter member of the Alamogordo Genealogical Society, where she served as president and held other offices.
She was active in the Alamogordo Women's Club and held various offices. She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was active in the Fish and Wildlife Services Wives. She and her husband were very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Alamogordo. They enjoyed playing bridge and square dancing for many years. Genevieve enjoyed cooking and sewing.
They moved to Las Cruces in 1993 to be near her daughter Jere and then moved to Boulder, Colo., in 2001 to be near their son Warren. She was a very family-oriented person. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her son Warren D. Bloys III (Colleen Vandendriessche), of Louisville; daughter Jerelyn B. (Norbert P.) Eich, of Las Cruces; grandchildren Jason E. Fink and wife, Tracy Clark, of Albuquerque, Lara Ferroni and husband, Cameron, of Portland, Ore., Rebecca C. Baum and husband, Bruce, of Las Cruces, and Craig J. Eich and wife, Kathleen, of Newton, N.J.; great-grandchildren Cole Dillingham, of Idledale, Colo., Zoey R. and Bailey G. Fink, of Albuquerque, and Jacquelyn A. and Alexander J. Eich, Newton.
Preceded in death by her husband, Warren D'Or Bloys Jr.; daughter Sandra Kay Fink Roberts; sister Jeanette Thimming; and brother P. Maynard Birch.
