Retired rancher
George Harold Medders, 78, of Alamogordo, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Medders was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Gallup, to William David and Maud S. (Hawk) Medders. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a lifelong rancher. He had lived in Alamogordo since 2000 and attended the Cowboy Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Murphy and her husband Leo, of Alamogordo, Gwen Klobas and her husband Ed, of Arlington, Texas, and Lynn French, of Alamogordo; six grandchildren, Leo Murphy Jr. and Brandy Murphy, of Alamogordo, Joe Klobas and Sarah Klobas, of Arlington, Tyler French, of Denver, and Brandon French, of Las Cruces; five great-grandchildren, Darian Murphy, Ryleigh Murphy, Brenda Taylor-Murphy, Alyssa Estrada and Payton Estrada, all of Alamogordo; a brother, Bill Medders and his wife Doris, of Mountainair; two sisters, Lula Spencer, of Mountainair, and Mary McCormack, of Globe, Ariz.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Pelma Medders; a brother, John; and three sisters, Ruth, Pearl and Myrtle.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with Mark McKinley officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Leo Murphy Jr., Joe Klobas, Tyler French, Brandon French, Israel Murphy and Oscar Veyna. Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Murphy Sr., Ed Klobas, Todd Lindsey, Arthur Smallwood, Weldon McKinley and Cleve Griffin.
Friends may call Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
