Gerald "Jerry" Clemence Priemer, 80, peacefully passed away Friday, June 17, 2011, in his home in Alamogordo.
Jerry was born to Clemence W. and Hazel Frances (Durfee) Priemer on April 20, 1931, in Detroit.
Jerry completed a successful overseas tour in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. While serving with the military, Jerry married Rachel Rice of Columbus, Ohio, in September 1953. After Jerry received an honorable discharge, the couple located to the Monroe, Mich., area to raise their family of four children. Jerry was employed and retired after 28 years of service from Monsanto Chemicals. To enjoy their retirement in a more moderate climate, Jerry and his wife moved to Alamogordo in 1987. The couple were married for 57 blissful years.
Jerry will be sadly missed by his brother J. Thomas Priemer and his wife, Erica, of Shelby Township, Mich.; a son, Gerald Priemer II, of Alamogordo; daughters Beverly (Boyd) McClean, of San Antonio, Texas, Susan Holland, of Wheaton, Ill., and Diane (David) Sheehan, of Newport, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Janette (Billy) Dunlap, Alayne (James) McClung, Jerry Lorann, Douglas Jr. (Chrissy) Lorann, Shane Lorann, Bryan Lorann, Jason Beck and Kristen Beck; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Clemence and Hazel Priemer; his wife, Rachel Priemer; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Priemer; and three grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin and Christopher Lorann.
Everyone is welcome to join the family for the memorial services being conducted Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at St Jude Parish, 1404 College Ave., Alamogordo.
The rosary will be recited at 9:15 a.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. with Father Tom Hoffman, S.J., as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Jude Columbarium.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Alamogordo Friends of the Zoo or Alamogordo Home Care/Hospice.
The Priemer family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation took place at PCS.
