Gilbert Blaz Granados, 75, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012, in Alamogordo. He was born Feb. 3, 1937, in Alamogordo to Salvador and Frances (Calles) Granados. He was a meat cutter for Holloman Air Force Base until his retirement. After retirement, Gilbert worked for Sears and then for Kent and Lisa House at Alamogordo Funeral Home, where was a valuable member of the staff.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Beatrice, who passed away in 2003.
Gilbert is survived by his brothers James, Benny and Louis Granados, and Salvador Montes; sister Marggie de Leon; son Gilbert Granados and wife, Patty, of San Antonio, Texas; daughter Debbie Smallwood and husband, Harold, of Corpus Christi, Texas; and grandchildren Josh and Ashley Coe, Gilbert Granados III, and Destiny and Patrick Granados. He is also survived by his companion, Sophia Schneider.
The rosary will be recited by Linda Villabisencio at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 705 Delaware Ave., Alamogordo. Mass of the Resurrection will follow the rosary at 10 a.m. with Father Mike Lindsay as celebrant
Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Cemetery in La Luz.
Pallbearers are Josh Coe, Gilbert Granados III, Patrick Granados, Rudy Candena, Maurice Gutierrez, George E. Baca and Steven Baca.
The Granados family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
