Glen R. Redman Obituary
Glen R. Redman, 80, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at the Bruce McCandless Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Florence, Colo. He had been a resident there since October 2006.
Glen was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Merrill, Ore., to Joseph A. and Ethel E. (Kamared) Redman. He is survived by his daughters Martha R. Young, of Seattle, and Janet R. Kovacik, of Florence, Colo.; granddaughters Brenda L. Waggoner, of San Diego, and Melinda R. Smith, of Ventura, Calif.; brother Alen E. Redman and wife, Kathy, of Billings, Mont.; and aunt Eva M. Harland and cousin Bill C. Holt, both of Cañon City, Colo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; his parents; and brother William J. Redman.
He will be deeply missed and remembered for his sense of humor, gentle nature, storytelling, and remarkable career in military research and development. He was an avid outdoorsman, having taught thousands hunter safety. Although the bulk of his career was in inertial guidance, it also included radio and facsimile technologies and atomic theory.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2011, at the Holt Family Florence Funeral Home in Florence. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the Florence Historic Chapel at 120 N. Pikes Peak Ave. in Florence. Interment with military honors will follow at Union Highland Cemetery. A reception will be at the Bruce McCandless Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home following the interment.
