1939 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Gloria Madeline Lowery Hanson Obituary
A band of angels escorted Gloria as she joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 7, 2017. Her life began on Sept. 7, 1939, born to Alton and Rose Lowery in Carlsbad, NM, where she was welcomed and cherished as the eldest of three girls. Her early life was spent in the NM towns of Artesia, Roswell and Dexter.

Gloria married her high school flame and love of her life, Richard Hanson, in 1956. They moved to Las Cruces, NM, where she began her college education with a scholarship to NMSU. With three little girls in tow, she focused on becoming a third grade teacher and completed her BA and Master's Degree in Education from WNMU in Silver City, NM. Upon graduation, she taught third grade in Silver City and Kirtland, NM school systems where she positively influenced and touched the lives of a multitude of students. She maintained an active membership of Delta Kappa Gamma for 37 years. Later they settled in Alamogordo, NM.

As an inspirational wife, mom, sister, family member and friend, Gloria was faithful to keep in touch and remember a multitude of birthdays or to send encouragement in life's struggles. Her influence will be regarded for generations. It is impossible to know how many lives she has touched with her smiling green eyes and loving heart.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Janet and great grandson Grant. What a joyous reunion they are having in Heaven!

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard, and two daughters: Jennifer (Britt) Hirth, Midland, TX and Lisa (Barney) Lucero, Kirtland, NM. Grandchildren, who affectionately called her Gram, include Chris (Sarah) Lucero, Ft Worth, TX; Aaron (Jonell) Lucero, Farmington, NM; Briana (Vinh) Nguyen, Fountain Valley, CA; Richard (Meghan) Hirth, Charlotte, NC; Garrett (Lexie) Lucero, Aurora, CO; Ben (Talia) Hirth, Benbrook, TX and Colton Hirth, Midland, TX; also eleven great grandchildren, sweet sisters: Rose Marie (Dave) McKinley, Green Valley, AZ and Roberta (Jerry) Holmaas, Tucson, AZ and special in-laws Ruth and Glen Markham of Alamogordo, NM.

Funeral services will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Alamogordo on Saturday, November 18 at 2 pm. Gloria's ashes will be interred next to her daughter, Janet, at Memory Gardens in Farmington, NM in a private family ceremony at a later date.
