Goldie Mae Woolum Miles Obituary
Goldie Mae Woolum Miles, of La Luz, passed from her earthly life into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus on Saturday, June 25, 2011. She was born Nov. 10, 1915, the second of eight children to Willie and Maggie McKnight Woolum of Jenson, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Charles; her daughter Ruth Miller; grandson Robby Miles; her parents; two brothers, Herman and Denver Woolum; and two sisters, Jean Philpot and Bea Duncan. Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted daughter Joyce Belcher White, of La Luz; her loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Dreama Burns Miles, of Dallas; her grandchildren, who loved her more than words can express, Melodee (Pablo) Hernandez, of Alamogordo, Natalee (James) Hubbard, Chariese (Eric) Thompson and Eric Burns, all of the Dallas area, Debby (Ronny) Sowell, of Cantonment, Fla., Peggy (Allen) Henry, of Dayton, Ohio, Gina (Ronnie) Parish, of Harrogate, Tenn., Lisa (David) VanPatten, of Sumter, S.C., and Becky (Mark) Chafin, of Forest, Va.; 22 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind sisters Clotene Asher, Freda Ellis and Gloria Woods.
We have lost the matriarch of our family. We feel honored to have shared our lives with this amazing, beautiful and elegant lady. She leaves with us so many precious memories of times spent with her and of all the things she taught us, making each of us better people because of her. She loved us, nurtured us and taught each of us by example that the most important things in life were love of God and family and to never allow anything to change that. We will continue to pass down from generation to generation her recipes she made with love and her clever, funny sayings. She will forever live on in our memories, as well as our hearts, as the most important person we have ever known. The world is a much better place for having her in it for 95 years. She is now at peace. Our loss is heaven's gain.
