Greg Hibner Obituary

Greg Hibner, 51, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, passed away April 19 at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center with his loving family at his side. His passing followed a courageous battle with cancer during which he always managed to maintain a positive attitude.

He was born in Newark, Ohio, on Jan. 6, 1964 to Paul F. and Darline (Day) Hibner. His father Paul F. Hibner preceded him in death.

He was much loved and will be sorely missed by his mother and stepfather, Darline and Bill Findley; his former wife and special friend Manuela Heberle; stepson Erik (Jennifer) Heberle of Tucson, Ariz.; his siblings Carol (Ken) Krauss of Alamogordo; Joan Hibner (Ed Parker) of Alamogordo; Mark (Vicki) Hibner of Las Cruces; Chris (PJ. Van Ningen) Hibner of Alamogordo as well his stepsiblings Bill (Brenda) Findley of Silver City, Wayde Findley of Las Cruces and Lindsay Findley of Ruidoso. He is also survived by aunts Janice Armold and Betty Day of Wilmington, Ohio and Martha Hibner of Alamogordo, uncle Tom (Nancy) Day of Cedarville, Ohio and a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends.

After high school, Greg studied auto mechanics at NMSU-A and worked as a master mechanic at several businesses, primarily Fitzgerald's, Tierra del Sol and Desert Sun Toyota. He also had his own small business installing artificial grass (SynTurf Southwest) for five years.
Greg loved doing 4 wheel drive runs and hard core rock crawling (the harder the better) with the Desert Mountain Four Wheel Drive Club as well as with his other friends in his beloved and much modified 1972 Chevy Luv, which he called "Not-a-Yota." You rock, Greg!

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation for cancer research or to a .

There will be a memorial gathering of family and friends to share our many memories and stories of a life well spent Saturday, April 25, at 2 p.m., 59 Desert Air Road (first left off Dog Canyon Road), Alamogordo.

The Hibner family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services. Cremation has taken place at PCS.
