Gregory Albert "Beto" Mars Obituary
Gregory Albert ""Beto"" Mars, 23
Gregory Albert ""Beto"" Mars, 23, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2011, in Phoenix, where he had been hospitalized for the past four months fighting leukemia.
Beto was born July 6, 1987, in El Paso to Greg and Becky Mars. He was the second oldest of four children. Beto lived and grew up in Alamogordo.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Lucy Rodriguez; his grandparents Geronimo and Emma Armijo, and Nino Ron Guitard; and cousins Albert Armijo, Emily Solis and Christian Guitard.
Beto is survived by his girlfriend Gracie Gutierrez and daughter Carmen Mars; his parents Greg Mars and girlfriend Pat Blazer and Becky Mars and boyfriend Larry Beaty; and sisters Victoria ""Tori"" Duran and wife, Priscilla, Samantha Mars and Sarah Mars. Beto is also survived by his nieces, nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Beto graduated from Academy del Sol in 2006 and continued to live his life in Alamogordo with his family and friends. Throughout his life he was always helping people, whether it was coaching the Special Olympics softball team or simply helping his friends and family. He loved to listen to oldies and spend time with his daughter. Beto lived his life for his family and never put himself first no matter what. He had an amazing sense of humor, whether he was making fun of his sisters or trying to make someone laugh. He always had a smile on his face all the way till the end. Not even the leukemia kept him down. He fought so hard for his life and never wanted anyone to feel sorry for what he was going through. No matter the pain he would greet you with a smile.
Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by Carmen Guitard. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10 a.m. with Father Juan Montoya, O.F.M., as celebrant. The family will greet friends at 9 a.m. at the church before the rosary.
Pallbearers include Terrence Armijo, Manuel Cordero, Danny Sedillo, Estevan Anaya, Chris Kiscaden and Gil Vigil. Honorary pallbearers include Chad Lozano, Ramon Anaya, Emilio Otero, Dave Lozano, Isaiah Aragon, Drake Osborne, Brian Kinnara, Ben Beaty, Giovanni Armijo, Isaiah Cordero, Jerry ""Munster"" Armijo and Albert ""Blue"" Armijo.
The Mars family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
