Henrietta Davila Gutierrez Obituary
Henrietta Davila Gutierrez
September 13, 1923 ~ January 13, 2016

In Loving memory of Henrietta, 92, was born in Baird, Texas on September 13, 1923 to Alberto and Eloisa Davila, both of Baird, Texas. She was born a twin with her brother, Henry Davila. The twins grew up with their other six siblings on a farm in Baird. Henrietta's father, Alberto, was a minister of the Spanish Baptist Mission in Baird. Henrietta was blessed with the opportunity to complete her high school education through the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board at the Valley Baptist Academy in Brownsville, TX. This is where she met her soul mate, Gilbert Gutierrez, who was also completing his education there. They were married on October 13, 1956 in Gilbert's hometown of Alamogordo, NM. The couple lived in the states of NM, CA and TX throughout years of their marriage.

Henrietta excelled in leadership during the seventies through eighties. She served as the Primera Iglesia Bautista, then Regional Association, and ultimately as the New Mexico State Women's Missionary Union President. From 1975 to 1978, Henrietta excelled in her career and is elected President of Food Services Association for two terms overseeing fundraisers, and coordinating professional development workshops. Henrietta was employed for many years and retired from Alamogordo Public Schools.

Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents, Alberto and Eloisa Davila; four sisters, Brijida Moreno, Carmen Suniga, Elvira Rodriguez, and Antonia Martinez; two brothers, Daniel Davila and Henry Davila; several brothers and sister-in-law on both sides of the family; and her infant son David Gutierrez.

She leaves behind her sister, Erma McBride; husband, Gilbert Gutierrez; daughter, Magdalena Gutierrez-Davis; and son, Daniel D. Gutierrez. In addition, she is survived by sisters-in-law Maruja Gutierrez, Elisa Gutierrez, and Josie Gutierrez; sons-in-law, Raymond Davis and Godofredo Rodriguez; step grandchildren, Justin Davis and Katy Davis; and many nieces and nephews.

Henrietta was a long-time faithful member of both Primera Iglesia Bautista and Gethsemane Baptist Church in Alamogordo. She is remembered by many as a dedicated, spirited, kind, honest, genuine, loving, generous person with an exceptional love for Jesus, family and friends. She was always thinking of others before herself. She was blessed with the gift of hospitality and was an excellent cook. Henrietta graciously opened up her home for all who came to visit. She will be deeply missed.

The Viewing and Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Alamogordo Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 1:00 pm directed by Pastor Inez Benitez at Alamogordo Funeral Home located at 2301 First Street. (575)434-5253.
