Henry V. Dockray Obituary
Henry V. Dockray was born Nov. 26, 1930, in Hagerman, and passed away Monday, May 18, 2009, in Alamogordo at the age of 78 years, five months and 23 days.
Henry served four years in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. Henry and Pearl moved to Alamogordo, where they operated a full service filling station before helping to manage and operate Alamo Tire Service until their retirement.
Henry enjoyed flying, outings to El Paso for minor league baseball games, gardening, back yard cookouts and homemade Butterfinger ice cream. He was loved and will be missed by all of us.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pearl (Scott) Dockray; two sons, Ralph Dockray and his wife, LuEllen, of Alamogordo, and Terry Dockray and his wife, Julie, of Coppell, Texas; a daughter, Norma Pryor and her husband, Tim, of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl L. Dockray, of Alamogordo; a brother, Robert Dockray and his wife, Dorothy, of Las Cruces; his sister, Marjorie Curtis, of Mayhill; sisters-in-law Julia Dockray and Lou Ellen Hastings, both of Alamogordo, and Vida Lamb, of Pocatello, Idaho; a brother-in-law, George Scott, of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, W. H. "Bill" Dockray; mother Laura E. (Marshall) Dockray; brothers Kenneth Dockray, I. W. "Bill" Dockray, Herbert L. Dockray; sister-in-law Eunice Dockray; brothers-in-law, Elmer Curtis and William Oral Scott; a son, Jerry Robert Dockray; and a daughter, Barbara Lavon Dockray.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009, in the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mary Taken officiating. A reception will follow.
The Dockray family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
